_ In
the future time I am going to work as a teacher of English and French. In
addition, I am going to teach German as a foreign language. Being aware of the
present development of new media in foreign language teaching, we can make
predictions about the role of them in the future.
The increasing amount of technical equipment in schools is going to change the teacher’s role and the ways of class-preparation.
The use of Smartboards (or interactive Whiteboards), for instance, will lead to more interactive classes in real and virtual life, and it will necessarily include the computer as a general tool for class-preparation as well as for the class’s actual realisation.
Having the computer as a general tool, the next logical step will lead to foreign language teaching in virtual spaces. Using virtual desks, social networks, and social bookmarking programs, future students will be linked easily with one another as well as with native speakers of the target language. Getting easily in contact with native speakers will be a great opportunity for future language learners to improve their language skills and intercultural competences.
